
Jasmine (Sambac) Absolute Oil
The Jasmine Absolute is extracted from freshly picked flower buds of Mogra (Jasmine - Sambac) and processed in manufacturing facility near to the growers so that the aroma of oil is retained. It is produced from hand-picked buds by the grower. To produce 1 ml of Jasmine Absolute, about 1.2 kg flowers are needed – almost 4000 flowers.
Characteristics:
The Jasmine essential oil is classified as base note as it is normally very heavy and its fragrance is very solid and its fragrances is normally intense and heady. It is rich and relaxing in nature and is typically the most expensive of all oils.
Uses:
The essential oil from Jasmine is widely used as key ingredient for fragrance in soaps and perfumery industry. It is blended with other synthetic and natural oil to develop the intermediates. The blend is used as ingredient for room fresheners, perfumes, incense, etc. It is highly valued in aromatherapy for its euphoric, sensual qualities. Jasmine oil is uplifting and stimulating for nervous and depressed mood. It helps reduce anxiety and apathy, and can increase excitability when worn as a perfume.
The oil has many therapeutic properties such as anti-depressant, expectorant, aphrodisiac, antiseptic, expectorant, sedative and uterine qualities.
Composition:
There are many chemical compounds found in Jasmine absolute more than most essential oils. The main ones are cis-jasmone, benzyl acetate, benzyl alcohol, indole, linalool, methyl anthranilate, eugenol, benzoic acid, ceosol, and phyltol to name a few.
